about

Arbëria is an album entirely recorded in studio, in two sessions, one in 2006 and the second in 2008. The engineer was Fausto Balbo. The cover was created by her friend Nora Keyes, singer and visual artist from Los Angeles. The track Water is taken from a visionary text by Viktor Schauberger, in 1930. The music on this recording (Ombra di Sole and Blue were originally issued as a self-made released by the artist, named Gestuelle du Blue) shows the voice at the center, as the fulcrum and around there are electronic loops and lines of rhythmic repetitions. Now balm now poison, the music has an architecture that tends to addition and subtract elements, where rigor and visceral spontaneity coexist, providing variety of music that incorporates song forms, noise, avant-garde, melody and contrast. The art of Oliva is a metamorphosis of something that escapes, tangible. Her voice recalls the past, sincerity, urgency, so original. If the voice is an instrument of the soul, in records like this it is perceived, it's not a small thing. The voice and the electronic parts are improvised and then carved/edited at a later stage. The track named Blue is also present in "This Moment is not the Same", a film documentary about music and art by Marion Neumann, 98 min., Werner Penzel Filmproduktion & Jourparjour Company, supported by Balzli & Fahrer Filmproduktion GmbH and HFF München.
